#010: Yummy Dog Treats
P stands for Puns and also Paws. When designing for a dog treats store, the quirkier, the better.
We’re back with a new edition of Web Wizards! As a fan of all things quirky and cute, I’m super excited for today’s edition! A fun website for doggy treats with cool color combos and “paws-itively” funny puns in the copy, there’s a lot to love with this site.

Q&A
What did your concept ideation process look like for this project?
My client (Andrew Bass of Flow Phantom) tasked me with creating an e-commerce project for a fake product. It was going to be used as a Webflow cloneable for Andrew to help sell his Webflow e-commerce add-on. The only restrictions I was given were that the design could not contain any sort of trademarked/copyrighted material. How often are you given 100% creative control on a client project?! It was an amazing chance to just have fun with it and get to create a fun, colorful, and playful brand/website.
How did you strike a balance between creativity and functionality in this website design or build?
This project only needed the home page and a product page. Utilizing Webflow's great CMS system made it super simple to develop the functionality part of the project. This allowed me to spend more time on the creative process and get to play around with ideas.
What challenges did you have whilst designing/building this site?
The challenge lies in creating a product/brand from nothing. How do you make a "fake" product that would draw the attention of potential customers for my client? I choose to go with the fun color palette and incorporate dogs into it because who doesn't love dogs?!
What are some of your favourite elements/features on the site?
My favorite part of this project is the packaging of the dog treats! I'm not a graphic designer in any sense, so for me to be able to find a way to make the packaging mockups was super satisfying. I think they turned out great and could actually work for a real product lol.
What’s one new thing you learned during the entire process?
We often come across a task or project that we think to ourselves, "There is NO WAY I can do this". But by taking a chance on myself and giving it a shot, I learned that I can do anything I want!
If your creative process for this project had a lead single, what song would it have been and why?
Of course it has to be "Who let the dogs out?" by Baha Men 😂 😂 😂
Thanks for tuning in to this edition of Web Wizards! Definitely reach out if you’d like to be featured or would like to recommend a site to feature.
