Q&A
What did your concept ideation process look like for this project?
First, I began collecting animations and references that caught my attention, and then proceeded to create every page from scratch using Photoshop. The whole project took about 2 weeks to make.
How did you strike a balance between creativity and functionality in this website design or build?
Since I've worked with Patrick Heng before, we were able to bounce ideas together and find small interactions that would make the website fun to use. As a motion designer, it was particularly gratifying to collaborate with him given his exceptional animation skills.
What challenges did you have whilst designing/building this site?
The main challenge was to infuse personality into a website while simultaneously promoting my skills as a 3D motion designer.
What are some of your favourite elements/features on the site?
I love the fluid animation at the introduction, and the light/dark mode!
What’s 1 new thing you learned during the entire process?
How to define myself as a designer
If your creative process for this project had a lead single, what song would it have been and why?
Since it went smoothly but was still a lot work, I would suggest this song by Charlotte Day Wilson
Thanks for tuning in to this edition of Web Wizards! Definitely reach out if you’d like to be featured or would like to recommend a site to feature.
